Economic Denialism: Lessons from the floods in Rio Grande do Sul

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the term "scientific denialism" was widely debated. Many argued that science would be the key to saving lives, and indeed, it played a crucial role. However, upon examining the situation, it became evident that there is an even deeper issue: economic denialism perpetuated by authorities and the poor economic institutions that exist in Brazil. This phenomenon has proven particularly harmful in times of public calamity, such as the recent floods in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
