Rivool Finance thrives on the collective expertise of its team. Today, we are delighted to highlight Hallan Neves, our Chief Technology Officer. Hallan plays a pivotal strategic role, leading our software development initiatives and integrating blockchain technology to enhance our agricultural finance solutions.
Month and year you joined Rivool Finance?
A: March 2023.
Could you introduce yourself?
A: I come from the southern part of Rio Grande do Sul, have been working in technology for 16 years, started as a software development technician, and graduated in computer engineering. I’ve worked in the internet provider and health tech sectors for a while, and I am currently working in the financial market as the CTO of Rivool.
Could you describe your career leading up to Rivool and what attracted you to blockchain and decentralization?
A: I have tackled various technological challenges, including internet service provision, IaaS, and healthcare systems with BI and AI solutions. I’ve always enjoyed connecting with startups and addressing problems. The current challenge that has captured my attention is the tokenization and decentralization of the financial market through the use of blockchain.
Could you share any key milestones in your Rivool career?
A: I always look for projects that have a social impact, and this one is no different: we are bringing resources to the Brazilian agro-industry that feeds the world.
I have worked on developing a platform for hospital performance analysis and have contributed to public health systems, enhancing resource allocation and efficiency within the SUS (Unified Health System) across various centers in Brazil. At Rivool, we are aiming to revolutionize the financial market and bolster Brazilian agriculture.
What motivated you to become part of Rivool?
A: I’ve known Mauro (partner-investor) for many years, and in November 2021 he told me he was going to Florianópolis to evaluate a company he wanted to invest in. That day I met Rivool and helped him evaluate the team and the technology. In January 2022, Mauro invited me to lead the technological part of the project. So, I analyzed the proposed challenge, the team’s ability to execute, their motivation, and the project’s purpose. All these aspects inspired me to become part of this project.
How has your experience been at Rivool?
A: It’s fantastic; the teamwork, skill, and commitment to innovating the investment and rural credit landscape in Brazil are unparalleled. It’s a collaborative environment where everyone is driven to make a difference.
What dreams and goals do you personally aspire to achieve?
A: Entrepreneurship has always been a dream of mine, and Rivool embodies this. My goal is to contribute to growth and evolution across people, companies, and the tech sector. Rivool’s team, sharing common values and principles, makes it the perfect place to realize these dreams.
What future developments at Rivool are you most excited about?
A: I’m committed to seeing Rivool become a leading name in investment and tokenization globally. That’s a goal I’m dedicated to achieving.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
A: At home, I have two dogs and a wonderful wife; I really enjoy spending time with my family. I play Padel, run, and sometimes cycle with friends. But I think Padel is my biggest hobby today, aside from technology. I am really fascinated by understanding how things work, from history, physics, and mathematics to combining everything and delving into technology.
Any book recommendations for future Rivool team members?
A: There’s a book that I think is very cool, which isn’t related to technology, but tells the story of the financial market, it's the “Crash: A Brief History of Economics”. It talks about where bank securities originated, the story of the tulip bubble, the story of the internet bubble, and the story of blockchain. So, it’s a book that gives a general notion of what money is, what backing is, the issue of market, supply, demand. It’s quite entertaining and provides a basic understanding of how this world works.
